4 Wheel Tires

4 wheel tires are different from regular road going tires in a number of different ways. The most obvious is their size, there is a lot of tire sidewall compared with low profile tires and even everyday commuters. This gives them room to absorb more on unyielding rocks at lower tire pressures.

The next difference between 4 wheel tires and regular tires are the lugs. On tires designed for off-road adventure the lugs are much more pronounced, deeper and spaced further apart. This allows smaller rocks and gravel to get out the way so the rest of the tire can grip onto secure ground.

Another difference between 4 wheel tires and regular tires is their width. These tires are often as wide as possible for added flotation on loose or wet terrain. The weight of the car is distributed over a larger area which can also aid in traction on loose soil.
